It is Friday night, I am tense, stressed, my hair looks like a family of squirrels have nested in it, my clothes don't match, I need a shower (eeek) and I am desperately seeking some quiet alone time for me! Phones rining, radios blasting, tv blairing, what happend to those good ole' days when Friday nights meant getting dressed, looking great and going out? Than it dawns on me, I got married, LOL!
Now single and loving every minute, I realized that back than, when gravity was my best friend, Fridays were a time to vent, let off steam and of course, find a Husband! Now they're for watching TV, doing crafts, baking and just laying about.
Does this sound familiar girls? Do you often wonder who that person is looking back at you in your bathroom mirror? Here are some fun tips to get you motivated and find that fresh face again:
1. Shut off the ringer and hang up the phones....set aside some time each and every day for just you, let the machine pick it up. Missing a call or two will not be the end of the world and your ears will surely adore you for some peace and quiet.
2. Grab some candles and run the water....ummm, smell that sweet aroma of lavendar and rose water? Well, get those kids in bed early, tell hubby "not tonight", slip out of your raggedy grannie pajamas and sink slowly into that hot soothing bath! I promise your body will love you more the next day and perk up too!
3. Laces up those sneakers, we are off and running...don't have much time to just relax, want to work off those extra "oh just 1 more" and "who cares, I will diet next year" pounds, than get your gitty up in gear and start chasing those flappy "Love handles" down the road.
4. Face Masks, Mud Wraps, Manicures...are we talking about spending time with our kids, rolling and romping in the back yard? Good idea and costs alot less, wink! Grab that money jar that you have been pinching pennies in, call the sitter, get into some comfy mommy clothes and off you go to be pampered and beautified.
5. Dim the lights, slip into bed, get excited...we aren't talking about that girls, but curling up with a hot cup of tea and reading a good book, that doesn't have main characters named after a day of the week, a magical dinosaur or a sponge wearing pants.
6. Dining out, El Fresco with the girls...and I don't mean sitting outside of McDonalds or Burger King, what are we 12 again? Make a date with your favorite gals, doll yourself up, throw on that face hidden at the bottom of your makeup draw and have a stiff manhattan with a twist of "You Go Girl!"
7. Ching, Ching, your purse is rattling...you guessed it, charge, let's go SHOPPING!!! All you need is a few dollars (search your purses gals, there in there), some good comfy shoes (ones that don't say "Youch") and the will to shop til ya drop! Remember window shopping is the best of all - it's FREE!
8. Music softly playing, headphones on...ahhhhh sweet songs quietly play in your head, you drift off, a perfect day. Yeah right, maybe on TV or in your dreams. Driving in the car, doing errands, in between chores, the children napping, slip on those headphones, those magical gems of sanity and drown out the madness about you!
9. Scrabble, Trouble, Yatzee, roll the dice....I know, "but it's about me", and it is, this is game night for the kids, filled with popcorn, movies, prizes. Call the sitter, than grab your hubby or your favorite gals, jump in the car and speed as if your life depended on it (but don't break any laws though) and head off to anywhere you want!
10. Be a Diva, wear a crown, be the queen...as silly as this sounds, why not? Set aside 1 day a month or even a year and make it all about you, like a national holiday, surrounding yourself with gifts, trinkets, treasures. If your family loves you, which I am sure they do, they will be more than happy to fill the role of your court and bow down before you!
